Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated NAFED's e-auction portal NAFEX.in in New Delhi, marking a significant digital transformation initiative for agricultural marketing. The launch event was attended by Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Minister of State for Cooperation Krishnapal Gurjar, Cooperation Secretary Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, and NAFED Chairman Jethabhai Ahir.

Minister Shah highlighted NAFED's remarkable financial turnaround, noting that from being on the verge of closure in 2014, the organization now serves over 74 lakh farmers with a turnover of ₹30,000 crore and profit of ₹500 crore. The transformation was achieved through government support and transparent operations under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. NAFED's net profit has increased from ₹139 crore to ₹405 crore, while net worth has grown from ₹358 crore to ₹2,050 crore, making it a financially strong and self-reliant organization.

The newly launched NAFEX.in portal is part of four major initiatives that include Drishti, ERP, and NAFED Kalyan. The e-auction platform aims to eliminate middlemen and ensure farmers receive payment directly into their bank accounts within 48 hours of sale. Minister Shah directed that NAFED and NCCF must procure every single pulse grain directly from farmers within the next two years, ensuring farmers receive fair and remunerative prices while making India self-sufficient in pulses production.

NAFED has expanded beyond agricultural procurement into organic farming, seed production, retail business, bio-fertilizer manufacturing, food security, and international trade over the past three years. The organization's turnover has grown from ₹20,000 crore when the Cooperation Ministry was established to the current ₹30,000 crore, with expectations to cross ₹50,000 crore within two years.

In a significant welfare initiative, NAFED will allocate 1% of its profits for scholarships to support higher education and career development of farmers' children, addressing financial challenges in pursuing advanced education.
