Nava Limited Announces Commissioning of 100 MW Solar Project in Zambia
On 24 September 2026, Nava Limited disclosed that its step‑down subsidiary, Maamba Solar Energy Limited (MSEL), has successfully commissioned a 100 MW solar power plant located in Zambia. Power evacuation from the facility to the Zambian national grid commenced immediately following commissioning.
The plant is secured under a 20‑year power purchase agreement (PPA) with ZESCO Limited, Zambia’s national power utility, which obligates ZESCO to purchase the entire electricity generated by the solar installation for the duration of the agreement.
MSEL’s equity structure consists of a 65 % holding by Nava Global – the international arm of Nava Limited – and a 35 % holding by ZCCM Investments Holdings PLC, a Zambian investment holding company, underscoring a collaborative Indian‑Zambian ownership model.
Mr. Ashwin Devineni, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nava Limited, stated that the commissioning of the 100 MW solar project represents a defining step in the group’s journey into renewable energy and reflects its commitment to sustainable growth and diversification beyond its traditional sectors of power generation, mining and ferro‑alloys.
Nava Limited, an Indian diversified conglomerate, operates across power generation, mining, ferro‑alloys and renewable energy. Through Nava Global, the company is expanding its renewable energy footprint in Africa, with the Zambia solar project marking its formal entry into utility‑scale renewable assets.
