Navitas Solar Private Limited, based in Surat, Gujarat, and Caelux Corporation, headquartered in Baldwin Park, California, announced on 25 July 2026 a five‑year partnership to commercialise up to 5 GW of hybrid tandem solar modules in India. The collaboration will combine Caelux’s proprietary perovskite energy‑producing glass with Navitas’s N‑Type TOPCon module technology, targeting module efficiencies of 28 % or higher, compared with the current industry benchmark of about 25 % for silicon‑only modules.
Technology and Performance
Caelux’s perovskite glass adds a second power‑generation layer to the top glass of the module, which the companies say can increase energy density by up to 30 % and improve the levelised cost of electricity by 20 % or more. Navitas will integrate this glass into its existing production lines that already support Mono PERC and high‑efficiency TOPCon modules up to 720 W.
Production Timeline and Market Context
The partners aim to achieve commercial‑scale production by 2028. The initiative aligns with India’s renewable‑energy roadmap, where installed solar capacity has surpassed 150 GW and the government has set a target of 500 GW of non‑fossil‑fuel power capacity by 2030. The partnership also supports the Approved List of Modules and Manufacturers (ALMM) framework, enhancing domestic value‑addition and supply‑chain resilience.
Company Capabilities
Navitas currently operates a multi‑gigawatt manufacturing platform with backward and forward integration, including solar encapsulant production, EPC services, and an independent power producer portfolio. Caelux is described as a global leader in perovskite solar technology, offering low‑cost, scalable manufacturing solutions.
