Production and Supply Metrics

NCL Performance:

  • Coal production increased by 67% as on 8th September 2026 compared to average of 1st to 3rd September 2026
  • Coal supply increased by 75% as on 8th September 2026 compared to average of 1st to 3rd September 2026
  • Total coal production for FY 2026-27 stood at 51.43 Million Tonnes (MT) till 8th September
  • Total supplies reached 55 MT till 8th September
  • 87% of total coal supplies directed to power sector

Railway Evacuation:

  • Rake loading through Indian Railways increased to 41 rakes on 8th September
  • Compared to average of 19 rakes per day during 1-3 September
  • Major coal supplies directed to power plants in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan

Production Trends:

  • Average daily coal production rose by 40%
  • From average of 1.36 Million Tonne (MT) per day during first three rain-affected days of September
  • To 1.91 MT on September 8, 2026

Dispatch Performance:

  • Coal supplies to power sector showing uptrend
  • Average daily despatches to power sector rose by 27%
  • From average of 1.37 MT per day during first three days of September
  • To 1.74 MT on September 8, 2026

Operational Recovery Measures

NCL implemented several measures to support recovery:

  • Improved mine accessibility enabling efficient movement of men, machinery and coal
  • Priority restoration of internal roads improving movement to Coal Handling Plants and railway sidings
  • Continuous dewatering to reopen mining areas affected by water accumulation
  • Enhanced engagement with road-based consumers, particularly power utilities, to increase tipper deployment
  • Regular coordination with project teams, railway officials and consumers
  • Greater synchronization across supply chain from mining face to consumer
