Nebius Group Announces Asset‑Light AI Cloud Partnership Model
Nebius Group (NASDAQ: NBIS) saw its shares increase by 2.75% on Wednesday morning following the introduction of a new business model designed to scale its AI cloud platform globally through infrastructure partnerships. Under this model, infrastructure partners will finance, own, and operate AI data centers, while Nebius will provide its systems architecture, software stack, and existing customer base. Nebius will retain responsibility for hardware design and software on partner‑owned facilities and will market the resulting capacity through its global sales organization.
The partnership arrangement creates a combined capacity pool that includes partner‑run data centers alongside Nebius’s own data centers and colocations, enabling the company to expand capacity with minimal capital outlay. Nebius anticipates a variety of economic arrangements under the model, such as revenue‑sharing agreements, licensing fees, commissions, and committed capacity contracts, and it has already entered into initial agreements with partners.
"Our new asset‑light model gives infrastructure partners a flexible way to benefit from the explosive growth of AI," said Arkady Volozh, founder and CEO of Nebius. "Our software allows partners to reach a much wider customer base with much better margins than conventional wholesale bare‑metal contracts."
The company emphasized that customers will receive the same service standards regardless of whether the workload runs on Nebius‑owned infrastructure or on a partner’s facilities.
