Event Overview
On 17 July 2026, Nemichand Bamalwa & Sons presented its Afterglow collection at designer Gaurav Gupta’s Light Song show held at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai. The partnership positioned the jewellery house as the official jewellery partner for the runway, integrating over 80 handcrafted pieces with the couture collection.
Collection Details
The Afterglow line comprised sculptural diamond collars, layered necklaces, chokers, cuffs, earrings, ceremonial naths and headpieces. Gemstones used included natural diamonds, uncut Polki, Colombian and Zambian emeralds, Burmese rubies, spinels, tourmalines, tanzanites, South Sea pearls and rare Basra pearls. Each piece was designed in dialogue with the garments, considering movement, proportion and light.
Signature Pieces
Showstopper Ananya Panday wore a diamond masterpiece of nearly 100 carats, anchored by four solitaires each weighing approximately 20 carats, extending from necklace to head ornament and nath. Other notable creations were a dramatic diamond drape necklace layered across three tiers ending with a 2.5‑carat pear‑shaped solitaire drop, a 40‑carat uncut diamond peacock necklace, and vibrant tourmaline compositions inspired by the show’s solar palette.
Historical Context and Remarks
Nemichand Bamalwa & Sons, founded nearly four decades ago, pioneered the retail of 22/22K gold jewellery in India in 1987. Partners Vinod and Sheetal Bamalwa said Gaurav Gupta’s vision encouraged the house to explore jewellery as part of couture architecture. The house reaffirmed its commitment to heirloom‑worthy, contemporary high jewellery.
