Nexteer Launches First Mass-Production Steer-by-Wire

Nexteer Automotive enabled a leading Chinese NEV maker to launch the world’s first production passenger vehicle with a full drive‑by‑wire chassis.
The vehicle’s steer‑by‑wire system received ASIL D functional safety certification from DAkkS in late 2025, marking a global first.
Key SbW features include dual‑redundant controllers, power supplies, communication links, variable steering ratio, road‑feel simulation and open autonomous‑driving interface.
Nexteer also announced its brake‑by‑wire Electro‑Mechanical Brake is ready for mass production, completing its Motion‑by‑Wire portfolio.
