The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a simplified and time-bound approval framework for National Highway, canal, and pipeline crossings across Gujarat. The MoU was signed by the Regional Officer-Gandhinagar of NHAI and the Chief Engineer (QC, Tech. & CPC) of SSNNL in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on September 22, 2026.
A key provision of the agreement is the mutual waiver of various fees, charges, and other levies by both organizations for all National Highway, canal, and pipeline crossings covered under the MoU. This measure is designed to reduce project costs, eliminate procedural bottlenecks, and optimize the utilization of public funds to accelerate infrastructure development.
The MoU establishes a framework for early sharing of project information, adoption of standardized engineering practices, and clearly defined responsibilities for the construction and maintenance of crossing structures.
