The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has extended its citizen-centric 'Clean Toilet Picture Challenge' initiative until 30th June 2027. This extension aims to enhance cleanliness and user experience at toilet facilities along National Highways while ensuring continued public participation and timely processing of FASTag recharge rewards linked to the initiative.
The program has received enthusiastic response from highway users, with 429 commuters rewarded with FASTag recharge worth ₹1,000 each in 2026 for reporting unclean toilets. Under the scheme, participants must upload clear, geo-tagged, and time-stamped photographs of unclean toilets through the latest version of the Rajmargyatra Mobile App, along with basic details including name, location, vehicle registration number, and mobile number.
Each eligible vehicle registration number reporting unclean facilities receives a reward of ₹1,000 in the form of FASTag recharge credited to the linked VRN, with each VRN eligible for only one non-transferable reward during the entire scheme period. In cases of multiple reports for the same facility on the same day, only the first valid submission through the app is considered. The scheme applies exclusively to toilet facilities constructed, operated, or maintained under NHAI's jurisdiction, excluding facilities at retail fuel stations, dhabas, or other public facilities not under NHAI control. All entries undergo verification through AI-assisted screening and manual validation where required.
