NHPC Limited has formally declared Commercial Operation (CoD) of Unit #5 (250 MW) at its Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, effective from 00:00 hours on October 23, 2026.
The Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project has a total capacity of 2000 MW comprising eight units of 250 MW each, located across Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
With this commissioning, five units of the project (Unit #1, Unit #2, Unit #3, Unit #4, and Unit #5) are now commercially operational, representing 1250 MW of total operational capacity. Each unit has a capacity of 250 MW.
The company has stated that the Commercial Operation of the remaining three units will be communicated in due course as the project development progresses.
