NIELIT Digital University Platform Integrates Saylor University Courses and Signs Multiple MoUs
The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), launched a collaboration with Saylor University, USA to integrate Saylor's digital learning resources into the NIELIT Digital University (NDU) platform. The launch event was held in New Delhi with Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, attending as Chief Guest and formally inaugurating the partnership.
Through this integration, learners on the NDU platform gain access to Saylor University's 160+ free online courses in areas including artificial intelligence, programming, data science, cybersecurity, and business management. The initiative provides self-paced, globally relevant online learning resources, creating a unified ecosystem that combines national and international learning opportunities on a common platform. The collaboration aims to enhance digital upskilling and reskilling opportunities, particularly benefiting learners in Tier-2, Tier-3, and underserved regions.
Concurrently, NIELIT exchanged Memoranda of Understanding with eight partner organizations from industry, association, and academia sectors. The partner organizations include: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), Pearson India Education Services Pvt. Ltd., Stemlore Innovators LLP, Dassault Systèmes, ABES Engineering College, and Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University (KBCNMU), Jalgaon. These collaborations are aimed at expanding industry-aligned skilling, certification, faculty development, internships, and digital learning opportunities primarily leveraging the NDU platform.
The NIELIT Digital University platform, launched on October 2, 2025, currently has 2.80 lakh+ registered learners across all 36 States and Union Territories, covering 761 districts. The platform offers 120+ courses across emerging technology domains including AI, cybersecurity, data science, cloud computing, semiconductor design, and VLSI. It features NSQF-aligned, NCVET-approved programs, ABC-enabled credit transfer, and personalized learning pathways supported by AI-enabled tools, Virtual Labs, and an advanced Learning Management System.
NIELIT operates as an Autonomous Scientific Society under MeitY with extensive presence through 56 NIELIT centers, over 700 accredited institutes, and 8,000+ facilitation centers. It has been conferred the status of "Deemed to be University" under the UGC Regulations, 2023, with its main campus at Ropar (Punjab) and eleven constituent campuses located across India.
