Announcement
Nihilent Limited, a global technology and consulting firm, announced on August 28, 2026 in Mumbai the worldwide launch of nSEPIA, an AI‑powered emotion detection and emotional‑wellness application intended for everyday use.
Product Features
The app guides users through a three‑step cycle—understand the emotion, respond, and reflect. Users begin with a brief, non‑invasive interaction using the device’s camera; the on‑device Emotion AI analyses subtle spatial and temporal movement patterns across the face, eye region, head and upper‑body to assess the current emotional state, with processing performed locally to safeguard privacy. Based on this assessment, nSEPIA recommends personalised interventions that include music (Indian classical ragas, Western symphonic pieces and custom compositions), breathwork, yoga (drawing on B.K.S. Iyengar tradition) and meditation rooted in Indian practices. After engaging with the intervention, users can reassess their emotional state to observe changes, creating a continuous loop of awareness, intervention and reflection. The app is available for download internationally on Android and iOS.
Technology Platform
nSEPIA is powered by Emoscape™, Nihilent’s medical‑grade Emotion AI platform. Emoscape employs artificial intelligence, computer vision and machine learning within a proprietary, patent‑protected framework based on the Navarasa principles described in the Natyashastra. The platform has undergone scientific and academic evaluation for its ability to assess human emotions objectively and is traditionally designed for professional and institutional contexts; nSEPIA adapts this capability for individual users.
Strategic Intent
Founder and Executive Chairman L.C. Singh stated that the app translates years of research on how emotions influence thinking, decision‑making and relationships into a tool that enhances self‑awareness and emotional balance, emphasizing that technology augments rather than replaces human understanding. Consultant Psychiatrist and Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry Dr. Vihang Vahia highlighted the significance of bringing objectivity to emotion assessment and praised the initiative as a step toward better emotional regulation.
Availability & Disclaimer
The application can be downloaded globally on both Android and iOS platforms. The press release is provided under an arrangement with NRDPL, and PTI disclaims editorial responsibility.
