NIMCJ Receives Gujarat University Approval for Fourth‑Year BAJMC (Hons) Programme

The National Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism (NIMCJ) in Ahmedabad has been granted exclusive approval by Gujarat University to conduct the fourth year of the Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (BAJMC, Honors) programme, making it the sole institute authorised for this course in the state.

Admissions have opened as of 12 June 2026 for candidates who have successfully completed six semesters of the BAJMC programme. To be eligible for the regular Honors track, applicants must have no backlog in any of the six semesters. Candidates seeking the Honors with Research track must have secured an average of at least 75 percent marks across all previously completed semesters.

The fourth‑year curriculum, scheduled to commence in July 2026, will be delivered by field experts and will cover subjects including Media Research, Podcast Production, Media Start‑ups, Defense Communication, Science Communication, Media AI Tools, Digital Media Marketing, VFX, Cinematography, Data Analytics and Research Methodology, together with Industry‑based Research Projects and Asian Media Perspectives.

Students who have completed three years of BAJMC studies at any university in Gujarat or from other states are also eligible to apply for this programme.

Upon successful completion, graduates of the Honors programme will find it easier to secure admission to foreign universities for higher studies without needing additional qualifications, while those graduating with Honors and Research will be eligible for direct admission to PhD research programmes.

For further information, prospective candidates may visit the institute’s website at www.nimcj.org or contact a counsellor at 07600068443.
