Overview
Nirupa’s Yeola Paithani & Silk Sarees opened its first showroom in Pune on Bhandarkar Road. The retail space covers approximately 6,500 to 7,000 square feet and marks the brand’s entry into the Pune market, complementing its existing presence in Thane and Mumbai.
Inauguration
The showroom was inaugurated by Rajya Sabha MP and Chairperson of a Parliamentary Committee, Prof. Dr. Medha Kulkarni. During the ceremony she emphasized the importance of preserving India’s handloom heritage and highlighted several government initiatives supporting the sector, including National Handloom Day, various MSME schemes, credit facilities for artisans, and proposals to allocate space at railway stations for textile and handicraft outlets.
Product Offering and Pricing
Founder Nirupa Tayade explained that the new outlet showcases an extensive collection of authentic Yeola Paithani, Banarasi, silk, Patola, and contemporary designs featuring Zardozi and pearl work. All sarees are woven on traditional handlooms with multiple stages of production involving skilled artisans. Prices range from Rs 2,000 for simpler pieces to Rs 7 lakh for premium creations.
Brand Ambassadors and Celebrity Endorsements
Prajakta Mali, the brand ambassador, recently wore a Nirupa’s saree on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. Actors Ketaki Mategaonkar and Abhijit Khandkekar are also noted as customers of the brand.
Opening Promotions and Attendees
Customers who purchase sarees within the first seven days of the showroom’s opening are eligible for special discounts. The inauguration was attended by Nirupa Tayade’s mother Vandana Wazare, Akhil Bharatiya Chitrapat Mahamandal president Meghraj Rajebhosale, Esham Tayade, Dilip Khaire, Dhiraj Wazare, Ganesh Doke, Mahesh Gaikwad, Yogita Gaikwad, Tushar Khaire, Sarang Magar, Vaishali Doke, Rohit Doke, among others.
