Joint Venture Agreement Details

NLC India Limited (NLCIL), a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Coal, and National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Mines, signed a Joint Venture Agreement on 8 July 2026 for development of a 4 x 270 MW (1,080 MW) Coal-based Captive Thermal Power Plant at Angul, Odisha.

Equity Structure and Participation

The Joint Venture Company will be jointly promoted by NLC India Limited and NALCO with an equal equity participation of 50:50. The Joint Venture will develop, finance, construct, own and operate the 1,080 MW captive thermal power plant.

Purpose and Strategic Impact

The plant will ensure a reliable long-term power supply to support NALCO's expansion project. This initiative marks a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration between two leading Central Public Sector Enterprises and reflects the Government of India's commitment to promoting integrated resource development, energy security and sustainable industrial growth.
