Novatek Creates Shipbuilding Unit for 15 Tankers

Novatek established Severny Inzhiniring on March 25, 2026 to build vessels and floating facilities amid a gas‑tanker shortage caused by sanctions.
Ilya Lushchikov, also head of Novatek’s Murmansk LNG project, will lead the new shipbuilding entity.
Russia’s Zvezda shipyard, specialist in Arc7 ice‑class tankers, has delivered one such tanker for Novatek’s Arctic LNG 2 plant.
Novatek holds 60% of Arctic LNG 2 and plans to build 15 Arc7 ice‑class tankers at Zvezda to secure LNG transport.
