NTPC Acquires Full Ownership of Waste Subsidiary NEWS

NTPC Limited executed a termination agreement to acquire MCD's 26% stake in joint venture NTPC EDMC Waste Solutions Private Limited (NEWS).
The acquisition, for ₹5.20 lakh, will make NEWS a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC, consolidating its waste-to-wealth business.
The transaction is exempt from SEBI related party transaction approval requirements as it is between a listed PSU and a government entity.
Completion is targeted for Q1 FY 2026-27; NEWS reported a turnover of ₹1.28 lakh in FY 2024-25.
