Nu Voice Press Announces New Publishing Ecosystem

Kevin Missal, who wrote his first book at age 14 and became a bestselling author by 22 with the Kalki Series, launched the imprint Nu Voice Press under the Hubhawks umbrella at the New Delhi World Book Fair in 2023. The press release explains that Missal created the imprint to address the bottleneck in Indian publishing where narrow acquisition windows and a bias toward known names leave many capable debut writers without a platform.

Nu Voice Press frames its mission around three verbs – discovering, developing, and championing – and positions itself to treat new manuscripts with the same editorial rigor typically reserved for established authors. In its first few years the imprint has published more than 300 books spanning literary fiction, memoir, poetry, children’s literature, self‑help, history, mythology and narrative non‑fiction, demonstrating a broad scouting approach rather than a single formula.

The development process includes structural and line editing, production standards, and longer editorial timelines, while championing covers distribution, author branding, marketing and public‑relations, ensuring that each title moves from draft to bookstore shelf and reaches readers. Missal is quoted saying that Indian publishing “lacks houses willing to treat new voices with the editorial seriousness usually reserved for established names,” underscoring the imprint’s commitment to building careers for unknown authors.

The release notes that the press release is provided under an arrangement with NRDPL and that PTI assumes no editorial responsibility for the content.
