Nvidia Vera Rubin Platform Production and Performance Highlights
Nvidia announced on Tuesday that its Vera Rubin AI platform is moving into full production, with more than 300 global partners operating across 350 factory sites in 30 countries. Key partners include CoreWeave, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Mistral, all of which are deploying the new rack‑scale system.
Shares of Nvidia closed up 2 % on the same day as semiconductor stocks recovered from a recent sell‑off.
CoreWeave’s benchmark testing demonstrated that the Vera Rubin NVL72 configuration delivers ten‑fold higher throughput per megawatt compared with the Grace Blackwell NVL72 when running the DeepSeek‑R1 workload. The platform integrates seven chips and five rack trays into a single system.
The NVL72 design eliminates cables, fans and hoses inside the tray, cutting compute‑tray assembly time to roughly one minute. It employs a 45 °C liquid‑cooling inlet temperature, allowing chiller‑free dry‑cooler operation.
Microsoft and Mistral disclosed a partnership aimed at expanding AI infrastructure throughout Europe. The collaboration will install thousands of Vera Rubin GPUs, and Mistral’s Medium 3.5 and OCR 4 models are now available in Microsoft Foundry and integrated into Microsoft Copilot Studio.
Google Cloud introduced its A5X bare‑metal instance, powered by the Vera Rubin NVL72 platform, with London‑based startup Ineffable Intelligence serving as an early user. The A5X instances are built on the same rack‑scale configuration.
At the heart of the platform, the Vera CPU incorporates a custom‑designed Olympus core. DeepInfra benchmark results indicate the CPU can support up to 1.6 × more concurrent AI agents at identical quality‑of‑service levels and delivers up to 2.2 × faster orchestration than competing CPUs.
The system also features sixth‑generation NVLink scale‑up technology and Spectrum‑X Ethernet equipped with 102.4 Tbps Spectrum‑6 switch fabrics. Infrastructure builders such as CoreWeave, Microsoft, SpaceXAI and Tesla are deploying the Spectrum‑6 switches.
