Strategic Initiative Details

OIL Green Energy Limited (OGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Maharatna CPSE Oil India Limited (OIL), has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with four Municipalities of Haryana:

  • Gurugram Municipality
  • Faridabad Municipality
  • Hisar Municipality
  • Ambala Municipality

The MoUs were signed in the presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Nayab Singh Saini, along with senior Ministers, Members of Parliament and senior officials of the Government of Haryana and OIL/OGEL.

Project Capacity and Scale

The four projects are proposed across the following clusters with specified capacities:

  • Hisar Cluster: 500 TPD (tonnes per day) municipal solid waste processing capacity
  • Ambala Cluster: 900 TPD municipal solid waste processing capacity
  • Faridabad Cluster: 1,600 TPD municipal solid waste processing capacity
  • Gurugram Cluster: 2,000 TPD municipal solid waste processing capacity

Total Combined Capacity: 5,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste per day

Expected Output and Production

The facilities are expected to produce:

  • 70–75 TPD of Compressed Biogas (CBG)
  • 50 MW of green power

Technical Process and Approach

The projects employ an integrated waste processing and resource-recovery approach:

1. Municipal solid waste undergoes scientific pre-processing and segregation

2. Recyclable material is recovered from the waste stream

3. Wet and biodegradable fraction is utilized for production of CBG (Compressed Biogas)

4. Non-recyclable dry fraction is utilized for generation of electricity through Waste-to-Energy facilities

  • Maximize resource recovery from municipal waste
  • Optimize energy recovery from non-recyclable waste
  • Reduce dependence on landfilling
  • Convert different fractions of municipal waste into valuable clean energy (CBG and green electricity)
