Strategic Initiative Details
Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna CPSE under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for the establishment of Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plant(s) based on Segregated Organic Municipal Solid Waste in Delhi.
Initiative Structure and Capacity
The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation between OIL and MCD to facilitate the development of CBG plants. Two CBG plants are being planned initially:
- Plant 1: 500 TPD (tons per day) capacity
- Plant 2: 300 TPD capacity
These plants will utilize segregated organic municipal solid waste generated within Delhi and will produce 30 to 32 TPD of Compressed Biogas.

The MoU was signed on 30th July 2026 in the presence of:
- Smt. Rekha Gupta, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Delhi
- Sh. Pravesh Wahi, Hon'ble Mayor, Delhi
- Senior officials from the Government of Delhi, MCD, and Oil India Limited
