OmniCard Launches India's First Flexi Benefits Basket on UPI
OmniCard, operating as Eroute Technologies Pvt. Ltd., announced on 27 July 2026 the launch of India’s first Flexi Benefits Basket on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). The offering is a single, employee‑controlled benefits wallet that works across multiple tax‑efficient categories, including meals, fuel, telecom, books & periodicals, gadgets and other eligible items.
The Flexi Benefits Basket can be used at more than 60 million UPI‑accepting merchants, allowing employees to scan any UPI QR code and select the appropriate benefit wallet for payment. Category‑level merchant‑category code (MCC) controls ensure each rupee is spent only within its designated category, maintaining tax exemption compliance and audit readiness. Both physical and virtual cards are issued instantly with full digital KYC, and a unified dashboard provides HR and finance teams with centralized issuance, loading, allocation rules, real‑time transaction visibility and reporting for the entire workforce.
The product leverages OmniCard’s own RBI‑licensed Prepaid Payment Instrument (PPI) license, meaning the wallet is issued directly by OmniCard rather than through a reseller program. This builds on OmniCard’s existing business‑UPI stack, which already powers expense management, fleet and fuel management, and petty‑cash solutions for large Indian enterprises.
The launch is timed with the 2026 tax reset under the Income‑Tax Rules notified by the Central Board of Direct Taxes, effective 1 April 2026. The tax‑free limit on employer‑provided meals has been raised from ₹50 to ₹200 per meal, allowing employees to receive up to ₹1,05,600 annually as a tax‑free meal benefit. OmniCard extends this logic across other categories, for example telecom benefits up to ₹36,000 and books & periodicals up to ₹50,000, enabling total annual tax‑free benefits exceeding ₹2,00,000 per employee, structured within CTC at zero additional cost to the employer.
Leadership comments emphasized the shift from fixed‑bucket benefit designs to employee‑driven allocation. MD & CEO and Co‑Founder Abhishek Saxena stated that the Flexi Benefits Basket delivers “more take‑home value at zero extra cost, with compliance built into the rails.” Co‑Founder Abhinav Saxena highlighted the engineering simplicity of multiple benefit wallets operating behind a single UPI scan, with real‑time routing to the appropriate wallet and category controls.
The Flexi Benefits Basket is immediately available to OmniCard’s enterprise, mid‑corporate and SME clients, with same‑day rollout possible through digital onboarding. OmniCard is also opening the solution to ecosystem partners such as HRMS and payroll platforms, benefits consultants, staffing firms, banks and other players via API‑based integration.
OmniCard is trusted by over 1,000 businesses, including McDonald’s and Patanjali, and positions itself as India’s AI‑powered Business Fintech OS for corporate spend management. Media and partnership inquiries can be directed to Abhinay Kumar (abhinay.k@omnicard.in, +91‑8800644740).
