OpenAI announced partnership with AMD, Broadcom, Intel, Microsoft, and Nvidia to launch the open‑standard Multipath Reliable Connection (MRC) protocol.
MRC extends RDMA over Converged Ethernet, using IPv6 Segment Routing to split links into hundreds of paths and reroute failures in microseconds.
The protocol is deployed on OpenAI’s Nvidia GB200 supercomputers, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in Texas, and Microsoft’s Fairwater systems, supporting frontier model training.
