Oriental Insurance 80th Foundation Day and Digital Initiatives

On 15 September 2026, Oriental Insurance Company Limited (OICL) commemorated its 80th Foundation Day at the NBCC Convention Centre in New Delhi. The event was attended by Mr. Debasish Prusti, Additional Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, who served as Chief Guest, along with Mr. Divesh Sehara, Joint Secretary (Finance), Ministry of Finance, and Mr. Vikram Singh, retired DGP of Uttar Pradesh Police, as Guests of Honour. Former CMDs, senior officials, employees, broker representatives, OEM partners and corporate clients also participated.

The celebration highlighted OICL’s evolution from a modest premium of approximately ₹99,950 in 1947 to a business volume exceeding ₹21,000 crore in the financial year 2025‑26.

A key announcement was the launch of Oriental DigiBiz, the insurer’s first dedicated digital office that allows customers to purchase policies directly through the company’s portal without intermediaries and offers eligible customers discount incentives. In parallel, OICL introduced an end‑to‑end digital journey for Motor Own Damage (OD) claims to accelerate processing, improve transparency and enhance customer convenience.

The company also unveiled several new and enhanced insurance products:

  • Oriental Gramin Health policy,
  • Oriental PA Parivar Suraksha policy,
  • Roadside Assistance add‑on,
  • Enhanced Return to Invoice (RTI) add‑on.

The 80th Foundation Day celebrations were conducted over ten days nationwide, featuring a range of social and awareness activities. Under the “Ek Employee Ek Ped” campaign, regional offices planted 5,414 saplings across the country. Additional initiatives included helmet‑distribution drives, insurance‑awareness camps, and blood‑donation camps. The Kathmandu office organized a special blood‑donation camp for flood‑affected victims and contributed ₹20 lakh towards relief assistance.

Cultural performances by employees, such as Bhangra, traditional dances and musical presentations, were also part of the Delhi event, showcasing the organization’s diversity.
