Orkla India Limited submitted a press release to the stock exchanges announcing that its business unit MTR Foods has launched a new Protein Breakfast Range. The launch is positioned as strengthening MTR's leadership in the breakfast category through consumer-led innovation.

The new product range comprises six items: Protein Rava Idli Mix, Protein Dosa Mix, Protein Upma Mix, Protein Poha, Protein Khatta Meetha Poha, and Protein Upma. Each serving delivers 10g of plant-based protein. The products feature a clean-label proposition with no added preservatives, no maida, no palm oil, and low-sodium salt.

The range was developed at MTR's Cuisine Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and aims to combine authentic Indian breakfast taste with modern nutritional preferences. The launch addresses evolving consumer demands for protein-rich foods, ingredient transparency, and permissible eating habits while maintaining traditional food authenticity.

Initial distribution will focus on the top four metro cities through quick-commerce platforms and leading general trade outlets. A phased expansion is planned across India's top 28 metros.

Sunay Bhasin, CEO of MTR, commented that the innovation reflects MTR's approach of understanding changing consumer needs and translating them into relevant food solutions. He emphasized that consumers are seeking more transparency and permissibility in their food choices while maintaining their love for traditional Indian foods.

MTR Foods is described as one of India's most trusted food brands with a legacy spanning over 100 years, offering products across breakfast mixes, spices and masalas, ready-to-eat, beverages, and sweets categories. The company has previously pioneered breakfast innovations including Dry batters, Fresh Batters, and 3-Minute Breakfast solutions.
