Partnership Overview
Oxford University Press (OUP), a department of the University of Oxford and one of the world’s largest university presses, announced a strategic collaboration with Canva, the world’s leading all‑in‑one visual communication platform launched in 2013. The partnership aims to embed design thinking and digital creativity into classroom learning by integrating Canva’s intuitive tools with OUP’s revised Keyboard computer‑science series.
Scope and Offerings
All OUP partner schools that adopt the Keyboard series will receive complimentary access to Canva Education, granting teachers and students professional‑grade design capabilities. The collaboration also incorporates Canva‑based projects across the Keyboard series and OUP’s other computer‑science series, Reboot!, which serves Grades 3‑8 and is available via the Oxford Educate platform. Age‑appropriate templates—including presentations, logos, flyers, websites, and social‑media content—enable students to apply learning in real‑world contexts while building creativity, digital literacy, and visual‑communication skills.
Curriculum Integration
The Keyboard series, designed for Grades 1‑8, blends theoretical knowledge with hands‑on application, covering foundational digital productivity and advanced topics such as Python coding, artificial intelligence, machine learning, Internet of Things, big data, and AR/VR. This curriculum aligns with the aspirations of India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), emphasizing experiential, competency‑based, and interdisciplinary learning.
Teacher Support
Canva will conduct a series of teacher‑training sessions and webinars for OUP user schools, equipping educators to lead design‑based, visually driven instruction effectively.
Company Backgrounds
OUP publishes thousands of new titles annually, operates in around fifty countries, and employs approximately 5,000 people worldwide, offering a diverse portfolio that includes scholarly works, textbooks, children’s books, and reference materials. Canva, founded in 2013, provides an online platform that empowers individuals, educators, and organizations to design, collaborate, and communicate visually; its Canva Education product is tailored specifically for schools and educators.
