Overview

PEI-Genesis, a global leader in custom‑engineered interconnect solutions, announced on September 1 2026 the opening of a new production facility in Pune, India. The Pune plant began operations on July 1 2026 and has already shipped its first customer order, marking the company’s sixth production facility worldwide and its second in the Asia‑Pacific region after the Zhuhai, China site.

Facility Capabilities

The Pune facility provides value‑added assembly of Mil‑Spec circular MIL‑DTL‑38999 series connectors, certified to assemble D38999 Series Qualified Parts List (QPL) connectors. It maintains locally stocked inventory sourced from leading global connector manufacturers, enabling 48‑hour lead times for value‑added connectors, low to no minimum order quantities, and the ability for domestic Indian customers to transact in Indian Rupees.

Strategic Significance

The expansion aligns with PEI‑Genesis’s 80th‑anniversary celebrations in 2026, underscoring a long‑term commitment to India and the broader Asia‑Pacific market. CEO Steven Fisher stated that bringing value‑added assembly closer to customers will provide faster access to critical interconnect solutions and greater sourcing flexibility. Alex Tsui, Vice President & Managing Director, Asia Pacific, emphasized that India is a critical growth market and the Pune investment supports the region’s expanding aerospace, defense, aviation, and industrial sectors.

Corporate Footprint

Founded in Philadelphia in 1946, PEI‑Genesis now operates six production facilities across North America (South Bend, IN), Europe (Southampton, UK; Louny, Czech Republic), and Asia (Zhuhai, China; Pune, India). The company’s global network combines local capabilities with worldwide expertise to serve customers in aerospace, defense, medical, transportation, energy, and other demanding industries.
