PI Industries Limited announced the launch of CARVINT (Flometoquin 10% SC), a next‑generation insecticide aimed at controlling thrips and diamond back moth (DBM) in high‑value vegetable crops such as chilli, cabbage and cauliflower.
Product Profile
CARVINT contains the active ingredient flometoquin at 10 % SC and belongs to IRAC Group 34, representing a new class of insecticides for the Indian market. The product offers a distinct mode of action, long residual activity, and is positioned to support resistance‑management programmes through rotation with existing chemistries, thereby addressing farmer concerns over growing pest resistance, frequent spray requirements, short control duration and rising crop‑management costs.
Target Markets
The launch will initially focus on key Indian agricultural states – Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh – where vegetable cultivation faces persistent pest pressure. Thrips can reduce chilli yields by 25‑50 %, while DBM can cause significant losses in cabbage.
