Overview
On 28 September 2026, global hospitality entrepreneur Sushill Waddhwa, Founder & CMD of Platinum World Grroup (PWG) and Founder of the WedTalks Forum, announced the launch of the inaugural WedTalks Forum FAM programme in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The event was timed to follow the debut of WedTalks alongside Colombo Fashion Week and was hosted at Cinnamon Life in the City of Dreams Colombo complex.
Strategic Vision
Waddhwa articulated a strategic vision to position Sri Lanka as Asia’s next Indian Wedding Destination Capital. He highlighted PWG’s expertise in hotel buyouts, group bookings, and destination‑wedding services across India, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the UK. The forum brought together international wedding‑industry leaders from India and the United Arab Emirates to showcase Sri Lanka’s luxury hotels, resorts and broader destination capabilities.
Public‑Private Framework
A five‑year White Paper titled “Elevating Sri Lanka as a Global Destination for Weddings & Celebrations” was unveiled. The paper proposes a public‑private framework that includes international market development, recurring FAM programmes, planner mobilisation, destination readiness measures and measurable wedding‑tourism outcomes. PWG intends to present this White Paper to the Government of Sri Lanka and relevant tourism stakeholders for discussion on potential implementation.

Hon. Governor Hanif Yusoof praised the initiative, noting the strong growth in the Indian wedding market and the opportunity for Sri Lanka to create unforgettable wedding experiences. Ajai Vir Singh, Founder of Colombo Fashion Week, described WedTalks as an important bridge between fashion, weddings and destination tourism. Kamal Munasinghe, SVP – Colombo Hotels, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts and General Manager of Cinnamon Life, highlighted the platform’s role in showcasing Colombo and Sri Lanka to international planners.
Future Plans
WedTalks Forum is envisioned as a travelling global intellectual property, with future editions planned alongside international fashion weeks, bridal fashion weeks and other luxury platforms.
