Key Infrastructure Projects

The centerpiece is the new international airport named after Sri Alluri Sitarama Raju, located in North Andhra, which is expected to serve as a growth runway for the region and inspiration for public service. The aviation sector development is part of India's broader expansion from 74 operational airports in 2014 to 166 currently, with the UDAN scheme enabling air travel accessibility for poorer families. The government recently launched the second phase of UDAN with ₹29,000 crore allocation.

Transportation and Connectivity Infrastructure

Andhra Pradesh is undergoing significant transportation upgrades with railway projects worth approximately ₹1 lakh crore currently underway. The state's entire rail network has been electrified, and over seventy railway stations are being modernized. Road connectivity is being enhanced through projects like the Visakhapatnam-Raipur Expressway, while port development includes modernization of existing ports from Visakhapatnam to Krishnapatnam and construction of new ports in Mulapeta and Ramayapatnam.

Industrial and Technology Development

The PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan is integrating rail, port, and airport connectivity across the region to create a modern logistics network that will benefit industries, farmers, and improve Ease of Doing Business. A major semiconductor plant foundation stone was laid in Visakhapatnam, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a manufacturing hub alongside its software capabilities. Google has announced a $15 billion AI and cloud infrastructure campus, with many other global companies showing investment interest. Additionally, AI infrastructure and data centers are being developed in the region.

Diversified Industrial Growth

Beyond digital technology, the Central Government is supporting a large bulk drug/pharma park in Nakkapalli, developing Andhra Pradesh as a major pharma hub. In the green energy sector, the Rayalaseema region alone has attracted investments exceeding ₹5 lakh crore. The government is developing the Visakhapatnam Economic Region (V.E.R) as a major industrial center with the goal of making it a significant economic hub of Asia.

Economic Impact and Employment Generation

The government's investment strategy follows the mantra of 'Investment to Employment,' with increased public investment and efforts to inspire private sector participation. This approach aims to boost manufacturing, increase exports, create new job opportunities, and ultimately improve household incomes. The PM noted that in his last three visits alone, he launched projects worth ₹2 lakh crore in Andhra Pradesh, demonstrating the accelerated pace of development in the region.
