Privy by IDfy Announces 50+ DPDP Implementations Across Indian Enterprises
Privy by IDfy, the enterprise privacy and data‑governance platform of IDfy, disclosed that it has now crossed more than fifty enterprise implementations of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act across a broad set of industries, including banking and financial services (BFSI), insurance, telecommunications, healthcare, retail, e‑commerce, real‑estate, manufacturing and other digital businesses. These deployments collectively span over five hundred million data principals, manage in excess of two billion consent records and involve the discovery and governance of more than ten petabytes of personal data.
The press release emphasizes that India’s privacy challenge predates the DPDP Act, stemming from the massive scale and fragmented nature of personal data that powers the country’s digital economy. IDfy draws on fifteen years of experience handling identity, verification, fraud and risk‑related data, a foundation that underpins Privy’s full‑stack DPDP compliance platform. Ashok Hariharan, Founder and CEO of IDfy, stated that the company made a long‑term bet five years ago that privacy would become fundamental to the digital economy, backing the vision with capital, talent and product investment. Paritosh Desai, Chief Product Officer, highlighted that while connecting to a database is straightforward, the real difficulty lies in recognizing personal data across documents, scans, images, masked identifiers and industry‑specific formats, requiring context‑aware discovery rather than simple pattern matching. Malcolm Gomes, COO and Head of Privy, added that success depends on navigating the complexity of legacy systems, multiple business teams and varied processes, and that enterprises should expect more than a product – they need a partner with proven implementation experience.
The release notes that the immediate regulatory milestone is May 2027, when DPDP compliance deadlines become enforceable, but stresses that privacy programmes will need to evolve as enterprises add new products, systems, data sources and AI‑driven processes. AI is already adding another layer of complexity, introducing new privacy questions around data usage, movement and governance. Consequently, the ability to continuously adapt data‑governance capabilities is portrayed as the longer‑term journey beyond the May 2027 deadline.
Privy by IDfy is described as India’s full‑stack DPDP compliance and data‑privacy governance platform, offering capabilities such as personal data discovery and classification, lineage tracking, privacy impact assessments, third‑party risk management, consent handling, data‑principal rights management, incident tracking and an AI compliance copilot. The platform is built on IDfy’s fifteen‑year legacy with Indian identity and personal data and is among the first DPDP platforms in India to operate at this scale across banks, insurers, ed‑tech firms, healthcare providers, manufacturers, fintechs, telecom operators, retailers and other digital businesses. Privy also won the DPDP Innovation Challenge organized by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the National e‑Governance Division (NeGD).
