Partnership Overview

ProClime, an India‑based full‑stack climate company, and Cadira Capital Management, a Japan‑based sustainable investment manager, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create a permanent carbon‑removal platform in India. The MoU formalises a collaboration that will channel an initial $10 million into the development of seven biochar plants located across six Indian states.

Financial Commitment

The $10 million capital will be mobilised by Cadira, which will lead capital formation and management, while ProClime will act as the development and operating partner. The partnership is structured with advisory support from Raicho Capital, a Tokyo‑based cross‑border advisory firm that originated and structured the initiative.

Operational Plan and Feedstock

The plants will process invasive alien‑species biomass, agricultural residue and forest‑residue biomass that would otherwise degrade grasslands, deplete groundwater and release carbon when burned or left to decay. Under long‑term rights secured with state authorities, ProClime will clear the invasive species, collect the feedstock locally, and convert it through pyrolysis into three revenue streams:

1. Carbon removal credits – permanent credits generated by locking carbon in biochar.

2. Biochar – sold as a soil amendment to improve agricultural productivity.

3. Bio‑oil – a secondary product from the pyrolysis process.

Carbon Credit Generation

The first seven plants are projected to generate roughly 35,000 carbon removal credits per year. All credits will be certified under the Puro.earth and Isometric standards, ensuring high‑integrity, measurable, and durable removals. The platform is designed to support rural employment and land‑restoration, with a longer‑term pipeline targeting 50 plants and beyond.

Stakeholder Roles

  • ProClime: responsible for feedstock acquisition, plant operations, community engagement, carbon credit origination, and long‑term monitoring.
  • Cadira Capital Management: provides the capital, oversees fund management, and connects the project to global sustainable investors.
  • Raicho Capital: advisory role in structuring and originating the partnership.
  • TOWING (Japan): under discussion to explore value‑enhancement opportunities across the biochar value chain.

Leadership Commentary

“India has the feedstock, the scale and the technical depth to lead the world in permanent carbon removal. Over the past two years we have de‑risked the entire value chain, from feedstock security to carbon offtake. With Cadira as our capital partner, we can now build it at scale, turning an environmental challenge into durable carbon removal and local economic opportunity,” said Kavin Kumar Kandasamy, Founder & CEO of ProClime.

“As a sustainable investment manager, we look for opportunities to create lasting environmental and social outcomes with high‑quality returns for global sustainable investors. ProClime's India Biochar platform does exactly that, and pairing it with Japanese technology makes it a genuine bridge between our two markets,” added Kazuta Sakamoto, President and Representative Director of Cadira Capital Management.

Additional Information

The partnership aims to give corporate net‑zero buyers access to durable removals at source and to tap the international voluntary carbon market. For further inquiries, ProClime’s carbon‑credits and net‑zero consulting contact is Theresa Ronnie, reachable at 9916090806.
