Questex International Hospitality Investment Forum Asia Outlook

On 6 August 2026, Questex released a press statement from Hong Kong announcing that its International Hospitality Investment Forum (IHIF) Asia has identified a strong resurgence in hospitality investment across the Asia‑Pacific region. The survey conducted by Questex’s Hospitality Investor platform, which targets capital‑market participants in the hospitality sector, found that 80 % of respondents anticipate a significant increase in investment activity over the next twelve months.

The research highlights Japan and Southeast Asia as joint‑first attractive destinations, with Thailand also noted as a key market. To deepen focus on Japan, IHIF Asia will host a dedicated “Nippon Track” that will bring senior decision‑makers together to explore domestic hospitality opportunities and outbound investment prospects.

In terms of investment strategy, respondents indicated a preference for lifestyle and experiential hospitality concepts, followed by operational efficiency initiatives and the acquisition of undervalued or distressed assets. These themes underscore a disciplined approach to value creation that emphasizes differentiated guest experiences, performance improvement, and opportunistic asset purchases.

Demand‑side fundamentals remain central to the outlook. Regional, intra‑Asia travellers were identified as the strongest driver of hospitality demand growth, reflecting the recovery of domestic consumption and the continued strengthening of regional travel.

> "The recovery of domestic hospitality demand and the continued resurgence of regional travel are creating a compelling environment for investment across Asia," said IB Saravanan, Vice President, Questex Asia. He added that despite geopolitical and market complexities, the sector’s ability to adapt through asset repositioning, operational innovation, and capital diversification is opening significant growth opportunities.

The IHIF Asia conference is scheduled for 16‑18 September 2026 at the Regent in Hong Kong. The event will convene more than 500 investors, owners, operators, developers and hospitality brands to discuss the next phase of growth in the region. Registration details are provided via the IHIF Asia website.
