Event Overview
On Monday 7 September 2026, the Ramaiah Group of Institutions inaugurated the Ramaiah Institute of Science and Management (RISM) and laid the foundation stone for Nareyana Pragnalaya, the new campus, in Bengaluru. The ceremony was attended by Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who praised the group’s contribution to building a knowledge‑driven society, and senior academic leaders including Dr. M.R. Jayaram (Chancellor, RISM), Dr. Seetharam (Chairman, Gokula Education Foundation), Dr. Havidan Rodríguez (President, University at Albany, State University of New York), Dr. M.M. Pallam Raju (Member, Board of Management), Prof. B.N. Raghunandan (Chairman, RISM Task Force) and Mr. Gurucharan Gollarkeri (IAS (Retd.), Chief Strategy Officer, GEF (Medical)).
Institutional Vision
Dr. M.R. Jayaram outlined RISM’s focus on global academic engagement, research, innovation and emerging technologies, emphasizing a partnership with the University at Albany that will give students access to international expertise, research collaborations and industry‑relevant learning.
Nareyana Pragnalaya
The foundation stone was laid for Nareyana Pragnalaya, meaning "Abode of Wisdom." The campus is described as a transformative space where knowledge becomes wisdom, fostering intellect, creativity, character and compassion, and preparing students to become entrepreneurs, innovators and job creators.
Legacy and Impact
The Chief Minister highlighted the Ramaiah Group’s role in producing generations of professionals, entrepreneurs and leaders, and stressed the importance of educational institutions in preparing youth for entrepreneurship rather than merely employment, thereby contributing to Karnataka’s and India’s future growth.
