TDS Rates for Resident Shareholders
- Resident individuals: Nil TDS if dividend ≤ Rs. 10,000 or Form 121 submitted with PAN copy
- Resident with lower withholding certificate: Rate specified in Section 395 certificate
- Resident without PAN/invalid PAN: 20% TDS
- Insurance companies: Nil TDS with self-declaration and IRDAI registration
- Mutual funds: Nil TDS with SEBI registration proof
- AIF Category I & II: Nil TDS with SEBI registration
- NPS Trust: Nil TDS with self-declaration
TDS Rates for Non-Resident Shareholders
- Non-resident shareholders: 20% OR Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement rate (whichever lower)
- Required documents: PAN copy, Tax Residency Certificate, e-filed Form 41, no Permanent Establishment declaration
- FPIs/FIIs additionally require SEBI registration certificate
- Singapore residents must demonstrate non-applicability of Article 24 limitation of relief
General TDS Provisions
- All tax rates enhanced by applicable surcharge and cess
- PAN mandatory - 20% TDS if PAN invalid/not linked with Aadhaar
- Higher tax rate applied across all holdings if multiple accounts under single PAN
- TDS certificates will be emailed to registered email IDs
- TDS credit visible in Form 168 from income tax e-filing portal
