Announcement
Repos Energy presented a live working prototype of its Autonomous Fuelling Solution at VivaTech Paris 2026, held in France. The showcase was part of India’s AI Country Partner pavilion, the largest national pavilion at the event, and one of 25 Indian startups selected under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) ‘Bharat Innovates’ theme.
Government Endorsement
Union Minister Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, attended the demonstration alongside French President Emmanuel Macron. He stated that India’s vision for energy transition is not only about adoption but also about building the infrastructure that defines the future, emphasizing that autonomous fuelling is a critical piece of the puzzle. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is committed to creating the right policy environment to introduce and scale this technology across the country.
Startup Profile
Repos Energy was founded in 2017 by Aditi Bhosale Walunj and Chetan Walunj in Pune. The company has built a network of more than 2,500 fuelling partners and has served over 25,000 businesses across India. It is backed by the late Shri Ratan Tata, who invested in the company across two funding rounds, helping it evolve from a last‑mile logistics innovator into an AI‑driven energy transition infrastructure firm.
Technology Details
The Autonomous Fuelling prototype integrates AI‑based demand forecasting, IoT‑enabled remote monitoring, robotic dispensing mechanisms, and frictionless digital payment infrastructure. It is designed to support both conventional fuels and emerging energy sources, aiming to operate fuel stations with significantly reduced human intervention, thereby improving operational efficiency, safety, and contributing to the broader decarbonisation agenda.
Selection under Bharat Innovates
Repos Energy’s inclusion among the 25 high‑potential Indian startups curated by DPIIT underscores the government’s intent to position India as a global hub for deep‑tech innovation. The ‘Bharat Innovates’ platform showcases Indian innovators at the intersection of AI, IoT, and energy, aligning with the country’s emerging identity as a deep‑tech exporter.
Strategic Intent
The company views its presence at VivaTech as a strategic inflection point to advance global partnerships, attract international interest in its autonomous fuelling infrastructure, and reinforce India’s narrative in the global energy transition.
