On 14 August 2026, the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Bengaluru Campus, announced several infrastructure milestones aimed at enhancing student wellness, career development, and campus mobility.
Gymnasium Foundation Stone
The institute laid the foundation stone for a new gymnasium, signalling the start of construction for a modern fitness and wellness facility intended for students and community members.
Career Development Centre (CDC) Office
The CDC office was formally inaugurated. It includes a dedicated chairperson’s office, two Training and Placement Officer (TPO) offices, a conference room equipped with virtual‑meeting capabilities, five interview rooms for panel interactions, and a digital display panel to showcase placement activities, career events, and industry engagements.
Vehicle Parking Facility
A new vehicle parking facility was opened to provide organized parking for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, improving vehicular movement and campus accessibility.
BMTC Bus Stop and Service
The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) inaugurated a dedicated STRR/EX‑STRR bus stop at the RGIPT Bengaluru Campus (Energy Institute). The service operates on the Hosakote–Devanahalli route with 18 buses running at intervals of approximately 30–45 minutes. The route connects the campus to key locations along the Satellite Town Ring Road corridor, including Nelamangala, Doddaballapura, Devanahalli, and Hosakote, as well as major bus stations, the STRR Devanahalli Toll, Balepura Gate, MVJ Medical Hospital, and Hosakote KEB Circle. Commuters can use the “NAMMA BMTC” mobile app, search for “STRR”, select “Energy Institute” as the stop, and view live bus locations and expected arrival times where available.

Prof. Harish Hirani, Director of RGIPT, emphasized that the developments are guided by an objective to create an ecosystem enabling academic excellence, physical and mental well‑being, and confident professional preparation. He noted that the gymnasium foundation, CDC office, parking facility, and BMTC bus stop collectively strengthen four essential aspects of campus life: well‑being, career development, mobility, and connectivity.

The ceremony was attended by senior institute officials, faculty members, staff, and students. The initiatives form part of RGIPT Bengaluru’s broader development plan to build a vibrant, professionally oriented, and industry‑connected campus, supporting its emerging role in the energy, technology, and management sectors and contributing to India’s evolving energy and technology landscape.
