Inauguration of Girls’ Hostel‑1 at RGIPT Sivasagar Campus

On Thursday, 17 September 2026, the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) inaugurated its newly completed Girls’ Hostel‑1 at the Sivasagar Campus in Assam. The facility provides accommodation for 100 girl students, thereby expanding the campus’s residential capacity.

The inauguration was led by Professor Harish Hirani, Director of RGIPT, who served as the Chief Guest. He emphasized that the number of female applicants to the Sivasagar Campus has been steadily rising, and the existing hostel had become insufficient, at times forcing three students to share a single room. Professor Hirani described the new hostel as a critical step toward meeting the growing residential needs of female students and ensuring a safe, comfortable, and conducive living environment.

Also present were Professor M. S. Bala, Registrar of RGIPT, and Dr. Chinmoy Jit Sarma, In‑Charge of the Sivasagar Campus, who welcomed the dignitaries and acknowledged the contributions of officers, faculty, staff, CPWD personnel, and executing agencies involved in planning, constructing, and completing the project.

The new hostel is expected to accommodate the increasing number of girl students in the current and upcoming academic sessions, reinforcing RGIPT’s commitment to strengthening student facilities and supporting academic growth.
