Inauguration Overview

On September 7, 2026, at the Jais campus of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya inaugurated three newly constructed hostels: Subhas Chandra Bose Hostel, Homi Bhabha Hostel and Vidyasagar Hostel.

Capacity Details

  • Subhas Chandra Bose Hostel accommodates 304 students.
  • Vidyasagar Hostel accommodates 350 students.
  • Homi Bhabha Hostel accommodates 302 students.

Collectively, the three hostels increase RGIPT’s residential capacity to 956 students.

Participants

The Deputy Chief Minister was received by Professor Harish Hirani, Director of RGIPT, along with the District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police and other distinguished guests. Professor M. S. Balathanigaimani, Registrar, presented a bouquet and memento. Additional attendees included Minister Shri Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, MLA Shri Suresh Pasi, Shri Shailendra Pratap Singh, District Panchayat President Shri Rakesh Agrahari, District President Shri Sudhanshu Shukla, senior administrative officials, faculty, staff and students.

Remarks

Professor Harish Hirani, in his welcome address, outlined RGIPT’s academic progress, major achievements, student‑welfare initiatives and recent infrastructural developments, emphasizing that the new hostels will provide modern, safe and comfortable accommodation, thereby fostering a more conducive learning environment.

Deputy Chief Minister Maurya urged students to actively contribute to education, innovation, research and nation‑building, praised RGIPT’s technical education and research initiatives, and stressed the need to reduce India’s dependence on imported crude oil while accelerating alternative and clean energy development for energy security and environmental sustainability.

Additional Activities

During the ceremony, the Deputy Chief Minister distributed cheques to selected beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Housing Scheme.

Significance

The inauguration marks a significant step in RGIPT’s ongoing effort to strengthen its academic, residential and student‑support infrastructure, enhancing the institute’s capacity to deliver high‑quality education, research and professional development in the petroleum and energy sectors.
