RISM and the University at Albany signed a strategic partnership aimed at transforming Indian higher education through interdisciplinary curricula, AI‑enabled teaching methods, and translational research.
The launch event featured a curtain‑raiser forum with academic, industry and research leaders, presenting an institutional roadmap that emphasizes systems‑approach learning, social skills, unified multidisciplinary engineering, continuous faculty development, and a focus on translating research into societal solutions.
Three panel sessions covered (i) future of engineering education with outcome‑driven, industry‑integrated projects; (ii) AI as a creative disruptor that shifts assessment toward critical thinking, ethics and human‑AI teamwork; (iii) translational research and industry partnerships that prioritize market‑oriented product development over patent accumulation.
Key speakers included Prof. Gurucharan (Gokula Education Foundation), Dr. M. R. Jayaram (Chairman, Gokula Education Foundation and Chancellor, RISM), Dr. Havidán Rodríguez (President, University at Albany), Prof. Shivakumar Sastry, Prof. C. Pandu Rangan, Mr. Venkatesh Valluri, and Prof. B. N. Raghunandan, who outlined five priority actions for the institution’s 2035 vision.
