Launch Overview
On 30 July 2026, Rumi Fine Fragrances – a newly created Indian luxury perfume house founded by serial entrepreneur Rajnish Kumar – announced the launch of its inaugural collection, described as a synthesis of "French Artistry with Indian Soul." The brand positions itself as an accessible‑luxury label, offering high‑quality formulations priced between ₹1,499 and ₹2,999.
Event Highlights
The launch ceremony was attended by Bollywood actress Diana Penty, acclaimed playback singer Kunal Ganjawala, and fourth‑generation French Master Perfumer François Robert. Diana Penty praised the brand, stating that Rumi captures "understated elegance, authenticity, and timeless sophistication that truly speaks to the heart." François Robert highlighted the "rare creative dialogue between French perfumery craftsmanship and India's extraordinary cultural heritage."
Founder Vision
Rajnish Kumar, who has a proven track record across software, hospitality and broader consumer businesses, explained that the first encounter with a Rumi fragrance should evoke an emotion rather than merely a pleasant scent. He added that the brand’s purpose will be fulfilled when Rumi becomes part of a consumer’s most meaningful moments.
Product & Design Details
The collection draws inspiration from emotions, memories and journeys, and blends the historic Indian attar‑making heritage of Kannauj and Lucknow with classical French perfumery techniques. Each scent is housed in a custom‑architectural bottle inspired by monuments such as the Rumi Darwaza.
Distribution Strategy
Initially, the perfumes will be sold exclusively through the official brand website on a direct‑to‑consumer (D2C) basis. A phased rollout to selective luxury retail outlets and premium online marketplaces is planned for subsequent phases.
