Overview

Sakthi Masala, under its Brand Avatar initiative, organized the ninth edition of the Suyasakthi Awards on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the Andal Auditorium in Chetpet, Chennai. The awards aim to recognise and encourage women entrepreneurs and achievers and have been presented annually for the past nine years.

Event Details

The ceremony was presided over by Sakthi Masala founder P.C. Duraisamy and Director Shanthi Duraisamy. Special guests included Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Rajmohan, Finance Minister Maria Wilson, Member of Parliament Praveen Chakravarthy, popular actor Soori, MLA Soumya Anbumani, and actress Urvashi. All attendees participated in the programme that celebrated women from diverse fields such as education, literature, social service, food, art, and culture.

Highlights of Speeches

MLA Soumya Anbumani highlighted her family’s political background and recalled health initiatives undertaken by her father, former Union Health Minister Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, noting the introduction of the 108 emergency ambulance service and measures to ensure anti‑snake‑venom availability in all Primary Health Centres to curb rural snake‑bite deaths. She also expressed personal inspiration from visiting villages in Dharmapuri. Founder P.C. Duraisamy praised Anbumani’s communication style, describing her speeches as constructive and precise, and remarked that “there is a man behind every successful woman,” citing Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss as an example.
