Salesforce Awards INR 6.8 Cr AI Grants to Indian Nonprofits
Salesforce, the #1 AI‑powered CRM, announced the completion of the inaugural India cohort of its Agents for Impact accelerator. Launched in February 2026, the six‑month program brought together four Indian nonprofits—Teach For India, Antarang Foundation, Foundation For Excellence and Latika—and provided each organization with access to Salesforce technology, pro‑bono expertise from employee volunteers, and grants totalling up to INR 6.8 crore.
Teach For India
Teach For India built an AI‑enabled Teaching Assistant and Coach that integrates with its Firki online teacher‑education platform. The pilot will involve 100 Teach For India Fellows and 100 teachers, aiming to cut the time teachers spend locating support by 70 % while achieving 90 % teacher‑rated accuracy and relevance. Following the pilot, the solution is planned to be scaled to 2,500 teachers on Firki.
Antarang Foundation
Antarang Foundation created a conversational AI copilot for career facilitators. The tool draws on live student data in Salesforce and Antarang’s certified resources to deliver classroom‑specific insights, career pathways, facilitation tips and suggested follow‑up actions. The initiative targets training over 200 facilitators and reaching 150,000 students by 2027.
Foundation For Excellence
Foundation For Excellence developed an intelligent scholarship Agent that reads, extracts and validates student application documents stored in Salesforce. By allowing teams to review only exceptions, the Agent is projected to reduce screening time by 60 %, free approximately 1,400 working days each cycle, and double the processing capacity for scholarships.
Latika
Latika introduced Asli Intelligence, an internal AI Legal Guide that generates personalized, district‑specific entitlement plans for families of children and young adults with disabilities. The system considers age, disability type, income and location to identify relevant entitlements, required documentation and next steps, enabling social workers to guide families while allowing Latika’s lawyers to focus on complex cases and advocacy.
Executive Comments
Arundhati Bhattacharya, President & CEO of Salesforce South Asia, said the cohort demonstrates that AI’s most meaningful role in the social sector is to extend knowledge, reclaim time and help serve more communities without replacing people. Sunya Norman, SVP of Impact at Salesforce, highlighted the potential of AI to extend nonprofit impact and praised the combination of funding, technology and employee expertise.
Elizabeth Samuel, Director of Firki at Teach For India, expressed enthusiasm for the WhatsApp‑based bot that will support teachers in planning and skill development. Priyanka Sanghai, Joint Executive Director of Antarang Foundation, emphasized that the AI copilot is a “partner” for career facilitators, not a replacement. Jo Chopra, Executive Director of Latika, described Asli Intelligence as a breakthrough that could eventually be available to every disabled person in India.
The cohort now moves into a pilot, refinement and scaling phase, offering a practical blueprint for human‑centred agentic AI that handles complexity while keeping people, trust and accountability at the core of impact.
