Overview
On 19 October 2026, Royal Sandur MedTech Private Limited, a wholly‑owned subsidiary of The Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Limited (SMIORE), executed a long‑term lease deed with Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone Limited (the Government of Andhra Pradesh undertaking that operates AMTZ). The agreement secures a developed parcel of 6.2 acres (approximately 25,090 square metres) within the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam, India’s premier medical technology park that provides common manufacturing and scientific facilities.
Lease Terms
The lease is granted for a tenure of 33 years from the execution date and includes full road, power, water and effluent infrastructure supplied by AMTZ. An exclusive right is conferred on Royal Sandur MedTech to convert the leasehold into freehold ownership after ten years from the date the business is commissioned. In addition to the land, the subsidiary has taken office space at the World Trade Center AMTZ to support project development.
Strategic Rationale
SMIORE described the transaction as a concrete step in its comprehensive diversification strategy, moving beyond its traditional mining, ferroalloys, coke and energy businesses into the Medical Devices and Consumables sector. The company indicated that further details on capital expenditure plans and project timelines will be disclosed in due course.
Management Commentary
Bahirji A. Ghorpade, Managing Director of SMIORE, stated that the diversification aims to build new engines of growth alongside the core mining and metals operations, noting the considerable opportunities for domestic manufacturing in the medical devices space and the capital‑efficient platform offered by AMTZ. Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director & Founder CEO of AMTZ, welcomed Royal Sandur MedTech, emphasizing that the investment reflects growing confidence in India’s medical technology manufacturing capabilities and reinforces AMTZ’s role as a catalyst for innovation, indigenous manufacturing and global competitiveness.
