Sapthagiri NPS University (SNPSU) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google to launch an Agentic AI programme, which the university describes as the first university‑level Agentic AI programme in Karnataka. The signing ceremony took place at Google’s Bengaluru‑Ananta campus and was attended by senior representatives from both institutions.
Participants
Representing Google, Shanoop, Head of Google AI GTM India, and Navisha Prabhakar, Regional Head – South for Google for Education, articulated the broader vision of technology‑led education. Google Cloud, Google for Education and Google AI expertise were highlighted as core components of the partnership. From SNPSU, Pro‑Chancellor G. D. Manoj, Vice‑Chancellor Dr. Jayanthi V, Registrar Dr. H. Ramakrishna, Director – Marketing Dr. Prashanth Kumar H. P., Director – Admissions Shashank K R, OSD – Tech Partnerships Deshmukh Omkar, and other senior officials such as Dr. A. M. Nagaraja (Registrar – Evaluation) and Dr. Mahendrababu (Dean, School of Engineering & Technology) were present. The industry dimension was further reinforced by Surya Nigam of Google and the CloudReign team, providing additional technology expertise.
Programme Objectives
The Agentic AI programme is designed to strengthen AI education, research and industry engagement by giving students and faculty practical exposure to emerging intelligent systems. It seeks to embed AI capabilities across curricula, enhance faculty development, and foster student training, research and innovation. The university emphasised that AI should be viewed not merely as an employment driver but as a tool to extend human capability and address societal challenges. Dr. Jayanthi V highlighted applications of AI in medicine, allied health sciences, diagnostics, teaching and learning, underscoring the need for interdisciplinary integration.
Significance
The collaboration creates a bridge between academic learning and industry knowledge, leveraging Google Cloud platforms and AI tools to prepare students for an increasingly AI‑driven world. SNPSU positions the programme as the starting point of a broader initiative that will integrate emerging technologies into the university experience, fostering a stronger link between classroom instruction and real‑world technological advancements.
