SBI Funds Management IPO Announcement

State Bank of India announced that its joint‑venture asset‑management arm, SBI Funds Management, has filed a red‑herring prospectus for an initial public offering. The issue comprises up to 203.7 million shares, representing roughly 10 % of the company’s paid‑up equity capital.

The share allocation is split between the two owners: State Bank of India will sell up to 128.3 million shares, while its joint‑venture partner Amundi India Holding will divest up to 75.4 million shares.

The public subscription window opens on 14 July 2026; anchor investors are scheduled to bid on 13 July 2026, one day prior to the open, and the IPO is expected to close on 16 July 2026. The price band will be announced separately.

Sovereign‑wealth investors have shown interest, notably Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and GIC. The filing notes that the offering could herald a busy second half of the year for capital‑raising, with other high‑profile issuers such as Reliance Jio and the National Stock Exchange of India slated to launch sales later in 2026.

As of the end of March 2026, SBI Funds Management oversaw assets worth ₹12.5 trillion (approximately $131.4 billion). For valuation context, this asset base is comparable to the market capitalisations of HDFC Asset Management Company (about $12.5 billion) and ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company (about $17.2 billion).
