Schneider Electric – Networks for Humanity MoU on India's Digital Energy Grid
On 1 October 2026, in New Delhi, Schneider Electric India and Networks for Humanity (NFH) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly explore applications for India’s emerging Digital Energy Grid (DEG). The MoU brings together Schneider Electric’s energy‑technology capabilities with NFH’s expertise in open, interoperable digital networks.
The partnership will identify, design and evaluate selected pilot applications that connect energy assets, end‑users and other participants across the energy ecosystem. The pilots will initially focus on five domains: utility energy intelligence, industrial and building demand‑flexibility, home energy management, electric‑vehicle (EV) fast‑charging flexibility, and carbon‑footprint accounting and trading.
Schneider Electric will contribute its capabilities across digital grids, energy management, automation, distributed energy resources (DER), building and home energy management, EV charging, micro‑grids and industrial load management. These technologies are intended to enable energy intelligence, support demand‑side programmes and facilitate discoverability, trust and transactability between value creators and value takers within an open digital energy ecosystem.
India’s power system is entering a period of rapidly increasing and more complex demand, with peak demand expected to approach 300 GW by 2027. Growth is driven by emerging loads such as data centres, artificial‑intelligence workloads and electric vehicles, together with continued integration of renewable and distributed energy resources. This trajectory underscores the need for a more flexible and digitally connected power system.
The collaboration is anchored by the Digital Energy Grid concept, which seeks to create an open digital layer that connects participants across the energy ecosystem. The vision aligns with the India Energy Stack, which aims to provide common digital infrastructure for energy applications and services.
Pilot activities will assess technical and operational requirements, validate the selected applications and identify opportunities for broader deployment, subject to pilot outcomes and subsequent agreements.
