South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal, marked the culmination of its Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign on October 2, 2026, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti celebrations across its establishments in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
The campaign, which ran from September 17 to October 2, 2026, involved intensive cleanliness activities at more than 55 Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) across SECL's operational areas, covering over 10 lakh square feet of space. The initiative included extensive awareness and community participation activities such as Nukkad Nataks (street plays), competitions in schools, Shramdaan activities, and cleanliness awareness programmes with participation from employees, workers, students, and local communities aimed at promoting cleanliness and encouraging behavioral change.
Simultaneously, SECL commenced the implementation phase of Special Campaign 6, which began on October 2 and will continue until October 31, 2026, following the completion of the preparatory phase on September 30. This year's campaign places special emphasis on effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste.
Under Special Campaign 6, SECL has identified 225 sites for cleanliness activities with approximately 40 lakh square feet of area targeted for cleaning. The company has set a specific target for disposal of 3,300 metric tonnes of scrap during the campaign period. In the area of records management, SECL will review 500 physical files and weed out 200 physical files, while also reviewing 7,000 e-files and closing 3,000 e-files. Implementation activities will focus on cleanliness, optimum utilization of space, scrap disposal, record management, reduction of pendency, and effective e-waste management across SECL Headquarters and its operational areas.
