Announcement
Sensorise Smart Solutions announced the launch of its next‑generation GSM module, named Wega M1, during India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026 in Delhi. The product was officially unveiled by the Union Minister for Communications, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, who highlighted the significance of having a Made‑in‑India module that serves as a bridge (SETU) between devices and telecom networks.
Product Details
The Wega M1 is a 4G LTE module built around the Qualcomm® 216 LTE IoT modem. It is designed and manufactured entirely in India, offering a pin‑compatible architecture that simplifies OEM migration and reduces hardware redesign. Key technical attributes include multi‑operator / multi‑IMSI capability, GSMA‑compliant remote SIM provisioning (eSIM & RSP), a projected 10–15 year lifecycle, QoSIM integration for connectivity monitoring, and compliance with Department of Telecommunications (DoT), MTCTE/TTC, InfoSec and broader data‑governance requirements. The module targets a range of IoT and M2M applications such as smart meters, electric vehicles, point‑of‑sale terminals, asset tracking, logistics, and industrial IoT deployments.
Market Context and Rationale
Sensorise positioned the launch as a response to a market currently dominated by imported cellular modules and recent security incidents that raised concerns over data sovereignty and cyber‑security. With DoT policies mandating SIM personalisation and the domestic development of network elements, an Indian‑made module completes the compliance framework for connectivity solutions in the country. The company argues that a locally sourced module is imperative for the Indian market’s growth and for supporting the government’s Make‑in‑India, data‑sovereignty and domestic semiconductor ecosystem objectives.
Timeline & Deployment Plan
Sensorise intends to bring the Wega M1 to market in the first quarter of 2027. Initial deployments will involve select anchor customers, providing a foothold for broader adoption across the Indian IoT/M2M ecosystem.
