Project Overview
The 1,320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project in Bihar comprises two units of 660 MW each. The project is being implemented by SJVN Thermal Private Limited (STPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN Limited. The project uses state-of-the-art supercritical technology ensuring higher efficiency and reduced environmental impact, and is equipped with advanced emission control technology.
Operational Milestone
Unit-2 of the Buxar Thermal Power Project successfully completed its 72-hour trial run operation on August 31, 2026. With this completion, the company is now set for Commercial Operation of Unit-2.
Generation Capacity
Once fully commissioned, the entire 1,320 MW project will generate approximately 9,828.72 million units of electricity annually, contributing significantly towards meeting India's growing power demand.
